Welcome to the HERTS JUNIOR CHESS ACADEMY
This website is dedicated to junior chess in Hertfordshire. For the Herts Chess Association please visit www.hertschess.com. Results for the Under 9 Under 11 Under 14 and Stars Barred competitions held on 7th February 2010. The Under 9 is Carl Breindel, the U11 winner is Taran Jina and the Under 14 champion is Jake Hung. Lochinver House won the team competition. Thomas Lambert won the Stars Barred competition with 5/5. Thirty three players took part in this lively competition which featured many players new to competitive chess. A bumper day of chess on Sunday 7th February 2010 at Cunningham Hill School. In addition to the Under 9, Under 14 and Girl's Championships there will be an Under 11 Spring tournament and a Stars Barred competition. The revised entry form is here. The Under 11 tournament will be an important event for any players hoping to be in the Herts Under 11 team this season! The Under 14 / Under 140 team lost their match at home to Kent by 15.5 - 8.5 despite standing at 6 - 6 after the first round. Details here. The Herts Under 11 championship was won by Taran Jina with 5.5/6. In Second place was Andrew Tomlinson on 5 points. James Colebourn and Paul McIntyre shared third place on 4.5 points. The new Under 16 championship was won by Kushal Shah 5.5 / 6 with Mukunth Raveendran second on 5 points. The Diary of Events is being compiled for this season. Please advise any dates. Thanks. We held a Stars-Barred tournament at Datchworth school. Details will be posted soon. The Hertfordshire Under 11 and Under 16 championships will take place on Sunday 22nd November 2009 at Cunningham Hill School. On the same date there will be a Stars Barred competition.
