Achievements This page provides information and links to external stories about Herts players. 21st to 22nd February Carl Breindel came joint first in the West of England Under 8 championships at Swindon. In doing so he quickly defeated the U8 London Junior Champion. James Abrams was a member of the English Junior Team won the recent Lithuania Independence Day International. The team won the event beating all opposition to end with 5 out of 5. 28th to 30th December 2008 - London Junior Championships Radha Jain won the Under 14 Major outright with 7.5/9. Ravi Haria scored 6.5, Lawrence and Vincent Lee both scored 5 and George Lawrence 4. In the U14 Minor, Peter Hodgson-Jones scored 4 points. Carl Breindel was joint 4th in the U8 championships with 5/7. Saturday and Sunday 13th and 14th December 2008 - London Junior Championships Vincent Lee came joint second in the U10 Major with 6/7. Vincent also gained 2 trophies for Best U9 Boy and Southern Counties Chess Union Best U9 Boy Champion. George Lawrence and Lawrence Lee scored 4, Taran Jina, Paul McIntyre and Joshua Silverbeck 3.5, Carl Breindel and James Colebourn 2.5. In the U10 Minor Tom Sergeant scored 2/7. In the U14 Major Ravi Haria and Jake Breindel scored 3.5/6, Joshua Cavendish and Radha Jain 3, Gabriel Gendler 2 and Madhi Elango 1.5. Jonathan Davies scored 3.5 in the U14 Minor with David Colebourn 2.5 and Ben Collins 1.5. Sunday 30th November. Jonathan Davies took joint first place in the U14 section of the Greater London Championships at Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton. Jon scored 4/5. Meanwhile in Halifax Lawrence Lee secured his full norm for the England 2009 trial whilst younger brother Vincent achieved a half norm! Saturday 29th November. Alexander Long was joint winner at the Royston LJQ qualifying for the major section. Taran Jina was joint winner of U10 section with 5/6. Sunday 23rd November. A contingent from Harpenden Juniors took part in the Bedford LJQ. Paul McIntyre came second and Taran Jina third in the U10 section and both qualified for the Major final. Tom Sergeant qualified for the Minor. In addition Lawrence Lee came first in the U12 section. Sunday 16th November. Carl Breindel made it a hat-trick of U8 London Junior Qualifier triumphs when he successfully defended his title at the Barnet & Finchley event. Sunday 16th November. The 'Killer Kings' aka Lawrence and Vincent Lee, George Lawrence and Ravi Haria won all of their matches in the first weekend of the junior 4NCL. Sunday 12th October 2008 - Jake Breindel took joint first at the English U11 Closed Championships at Nottingham. Saturday 5th September 2008 - Vincent Lee won the U100 section of the Golders Green Rapidplay.
